Welcome to Carbondale's Comprehensive Plan website – an entire website dedicated to improving public involvement and awareness throughout the Comprehensive Planning Process.

The City is developing a new Comprehensive Plan that will serve as a foundation for future decision-making.  The Plan will seek to enhance the character of the residential neighborhoods and guide the revitalization and improvement of the City's commercial areas, including its corridors and downtown area.  The planning process is a perfect opportunity for the City, its residents, SIUC, Park District, Memorial Hospital of Carbondale, and others to work together for the future of the City.  The new Plan is needed to build community consensus in order to help integrate land use, zoning, transportation, housing, environmental, economic development and public facility policies of the community.

This website will keep residents informed of meeting dates and times, press releases, host on-line questionnaires, and provide opportunities for feedback. As drafts of the Plan are prepared, and after initial review by the Plan Commission, the draft plans and concepts will be posted on this site for public review and comment.

All areas of the website are available for viewing.  It is not necessary to login.  However you can create a login to the site if you wish to be automatically made aware of site updates and meeting dates as they are scheduled.
